The field is wide open for this tournament, with a number of big names like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Garbine Muguruza entering the competition healthy. However, a number of stars will still be missing, including the world’s No. 2 player Andy Murray (hip), ’16 U.S. Open champion Stan Wawrinka (knee) and two-time champ Novak Djokovic (elbow), who are both out with injuries, and Serena Williams, who will miss another major while expecting her first child.

Wimbledon champion Roger Federer was the clear favorite heading into that tournament. However, Federer doesn’t have the same reputation on hard courts and also doesn’t have the benefit of the rest he took before Wimbeldon. Rafael Nadal and Federer have every chance to win the U.S. Open. It’s unpredictable.Australian Nick Kygrios won the previous Cincinnati Masters 1000 title, defeating Rafael Nadal in the process. The 22-year-old Kygrios has an outside shot to win the tournament.
